DAY 1
Begin Your Yukon Overnight Dog Sledding Adventure
Your Yukon overnight dog sledding tour begins with a pickup from your hotel in Whitehorse, followed by a scenic drive to our dog sledding base in Carcross, Yukon, located in the heart of the spectacular Southern Lakes region.
Upon arrival, you'll meet your experienced guide and your team of energetic Yukon huskies. After an introduction to sled dog handling, mushing techniques, and trail safety, you'll learn the fundamentals of driving your own dog sled. With guidance and support from your guide, you'll soon be ready to embark on an authentic Yukon wilderness adventure.
As your dog sledding expedition begins, you'll travel through pristine winter landscapes, snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and breathtaking mountain scenery. Experience the excitement of mushing your own team of sled dogs while discovering why dog sledding has been an essential part of northern life for generations.
Throughout the day, you'll gain confidence handling your sled and develop a strong connection with your hardworking huskies.
In the afternoon, your Yukon dog sledding adventure continues deeper into the remote backcountry as you travel toward your wilderness camp. Surrounded by untouched northern landscapes, you'll experience the peace and solitude that make the Yukon one of the world's premier winter adventure destinations.
After arriving at camp, relax beside the warmth of a crackling fire and enjoy a hearty wilderness meal. As darkness settles over the North, watch for the spectacular Aurora Borealis dancing across the sky and listen for the distant howl of wolves echoing through the wilderness—a truly unforgettable Yukon winter experience.
DAY 2
Wilderness Exploration & Return to Whitehorse
Wake up to the peaceful beauty of the Yukon wilderness as your guide prepares a hearty camp breakfast. Surrounded by snow-covered forests and pristine northern landscapes, you'll enjoy the unique experience of spending a night in the remote Yukon backcountry.
After breakfast, enjoy a short snowshoeing excursion around camp and take in the sights and sounds of the winter wilderness. This is an excellent opportunity to spot wildlife tracks in the snow, including those of moose, wolves, foxes, and other animals that call the Yukon home.
Once camp is packed and the sleds are prepared, it's time to harness the huskies and begin your return journey. Experience another day of authentic dog sledding as you mush through breathtaking Yukon scenery, crossing frozen landscapes and winding through beautiful forest trails.
As your Yukon overnight dog sledding adventure comes to an end, you'll have one last opportunity to bond with your sled dog team and appreciate the incredible work ethic and spirit of these remarkable Yukon huskies.
Upon arrival back at our base in Carcross, you'll say goodbye to your dogs and guide before enjoying a comfortable transfer back to your hotel in Whitehorse.
While your dog sledding expedition may be over, your Yukon adventure doesn't have to end. Whitehorse offers a variety of attractions, museums, cultural experiences, restaurants, and winter activities to enjoy during your stay.
